Tracker and auto-follow-up layer for job applications

AI-discovered

Problem

Job seekers apply to dozens of positions on LinkedIn/Indeed and either get ghosted or auto-rejected with zero feedback, losing track of what they applied to, when to follow up, and which applications are actually alive.

Opportunity

An app that ingests applications (email/board sync), tracks status per job, schedules smart follow-up reminders, detects ghosting patterns and gives seekers analytics on their funnel plus templates to nudge recruiters.

Market analysis

The pain is universal and evergreen, but the category is saturated: Huntr, Teal, Simplify, UnGhosted, NexApply, JobShinobi and more already do application tracking, follow-up reminders and increasingly AI-driven funnel analytics, several with free tiers. 'Ghosting detection' as a branded wedge is thin — it reduces to silence-plus-time heuristics anyone can replicate.

Market · Active job seekers, a huge but transient audience with high churn (users leave the moment they land a job) and low willingness to pay while unemployed.

Pricing · Comparables anchor low: Huntr free + Pro, Teal free + paid, NexApply free; typical paid tiers run $7–30/mo, but conversion is tough against free alternatives.

Pros

  • + Emotionally resonant pain with built-in viral loops in job-seeker communities.
  • + Email ingestion for auto-tracking is a genuine convenience most spreadsheets lack.
  • + Funnel analytics give users a feeling of control that is a real psychological product.

Cons

  • − Saturated category: Huntr, Teal, UnGhosted, NexApply and others already ship the same feature set, many free.
  • − Users churn the moment they land a job, so LTV is structurally low.
  • − Ghosting detection is a thin wedge — it reduces to silence-plus-time heuristics.

This is a graveyard category: enormous demand, endless entrants, almost nobody profitable, because the customer is unemployed (no money) and stops needing the product the moment it works (no retention). Even the naming insight is taken — UnGhosted built its entire brand on the ghosting angle. The only durable versions of this business bundle the tracker as a loss-leader for something with recurring value: resume tooling, career coaching, or B2B outplacement. A solo builder entering with a plain tracker in 2026 is competing on price against free, which is not a strategy.
